What do you do every day to express your elective affinity with nature, with the plants on your balcony, with the flowers that grow in your terrace or the trees in your garden?
My personal connection to Nature has been transformational in my life. I didn’t always pay attention the way I do now. As I started to walk a pathway of enlightenment almost 6 years ago, I began to realize how real our connection to Nature, and all Creation truly is. The Sunflower has been a big part of that, 3 years ago I began a garden centered around the Symbolism and Light of the Sunflower. As a photographer, I tried to capture not just photos, but the essence and feeling that I had as I grew them and spent time with them. Each morning now, I spend time meditating and just being in the moment in a large circle of Sunflowers I have planted. I planted it for just that purpose, as a refuge and sacred space. The moments of “Being” I have had there, have opened my path even further, and allowed me to see more clearly the work I am to do to bring others to understand what I have experienced. It’s a Journey not a destination, but one that is there for us All.
What is the plant that you like the most? Why you feel so attached to it?
While I feel a deep connection to all of Nature in general, the Sunflower, and it’s symbolism of following the Light, is where I have found my deepest connection. I observe them throughout their life cycle, I harvest their petals, roots, and buds to include in smudge sticks that I make, and I also make walking sticks out of the larger stalks. Until you see and hold one in your hand, you can’t understand how wonderful they are, and what positive energy they possess.
You’re leaving to a desert island and you can only take with you two things … and a plant. What would you put in your suitcase?
A Leatherman knife tool, the book “The Essential Rumi” and of course the plant would be the Sunflower.

In 2011, Scott Wright prepared to celebrate his 50th birthday. Reflecting upon his life, he knew he was ready for a new chapter and that his personal journey would no longer require packing, but would require deliberate opening.
With a passion and reverence for the outdoors, Scott often turned to Mother Nature when needing refuge from the demands, challenges and heartaches of life. A self proclaimed, pay attentioner, Scott has a deep connection to nature and loves capturing her beauty through the lens of his camera.
A month before his milestone birthday, Scott decided to pursue a forum to share his photography and created a Facebook page simply entitled, Scott Wright Photography. His intention was not about selling photography, but rather creating a community to inspire others by sharing the moments and feelings he experiences when capturing the beauty in the world around us. Photography has been a transformational influence in his life – a guiding force from dark to light. From the very beginning, Scott acknowledged that God was the true artist providing the spectacular images – his role was simply showing up to capture it and generously passing it along to the world.
The Scott Wright Photography community grew as fans engaged in conversations with Scott about his photos ~ their location, his feelings and insights and their emotions as they looked at each image and experienced the beauty. Fans began suggesting names for many of Scott’s inspiring photos and showed up every day to see what Scott and his camera had captured. As he continues to inspire his fans, they in turn inspire his passion and purpose.
Scott’s perspective on life began to align with a deeper sense of self and he soon welcomed other unexpected changes that he had not imagined possible. After being single for over 10 years, he became engaged to his newly discovered sweetheart and they married on the fall equinox in 2012. And in December 2012, Scott left a long and successful career in mortage lending to pursue his photography passion full-time. Each of these life events has proven to be serendipitous.
Focused on positive messages, artistry and inspiration from the Universe, Scott expanded his artistic expression by combining photography with music that resonated with the emotions and feelings of his Soul. His channels on YouTube and Vimeo share these videos.
Scott’s path soon crossed with singer/songwriters and presented the opportunity for collaboration. Cosimo Antitomaso, an Italian guitarist, Michel Goguen a multi-instrumentalist from Canada, and American artists, Andrew Dahl-Bredine, a folk singer, legendary rocker, Godfrey Townsend and Kirtana, who creates “Sat-songs” for personal awakening, just to name a few. Scott’s collaborations continue to grow with poets, painters, storytellers and spiritual and energy healers.
By combining photography with music, paintings, poems and words of inspiration, fans now share their stories of meditation, healing energy and life changing inspiration prompted by the essence and message of these collaborations.
Nature continues to inspire Scott and serve as a constant companion to guide and prompt deeper discoveries of inspiration and healing.
Inspired by the simplicity and complexity of the sunflower, Scott began a simple sunflower garden that has evolved into a multi-year global project where he shares thousands of harvested sunflower seeds with fans in 10 countries and 50 states. This project has affectionately dubbed him Scotty Sunflower Seed and today his meditates in his sunflower circle each morning.
Seeing the impact his photography was having with people, Scott recently launched Real Eyes. His goal is to create experiences where fans can feel inspired to look around them with their real eyes and then realize how nature holds so many answers to our deepest longings. Through the myriad use of technology, fans are in for a real treat as they virtually join Scott on a journey of seeing our world through real eyes!
Through Scott Wright Photography, Real Eyes, Scott Wright video channels on Vimeo and YouTube and partnership communities championed with his wife, Scott now inspires and reaches a global community of over two million people.
Scott never imagined that he would spend the second half of his life as an artist inspiring others to create balance, harmony and healing in their lives as he sought it in his own.
Looking ahead, Scott knows that changes will continue and opportunities are endless. Lifting his arms to the heavens, he is committed to showing up and embracing the gifts God grants him for the purpose of authentically inspiring others and contributing to a global awakening and love for all humanity.
Now nearing 53, Scott Wright is following a path to positively change his life and others that began when he turned 50!
A sentiment he once shared with his wife now resonates with everyone that crosses his path, “Alone we are miracles, together we are miraculous.”
