Edible or Medical
‘Edible or Medical’ is a visualization of the Plants For A Future dataset that contains data on more than 7000 edible, medical and otherwise useful plants for humans. The visualization gives an impression of the edible and medical uses of plants that have a edible or medical rating of at least 4 out of 5. Several design choices, such as font use, curved lines, colors and dashed outlines for plant representation are made for metaphorical reasons of the project; to provide a more humanistic, natural and organic appearance of the visualization. If there are at least 50 plants with a specific kind of use, that use is highlighted in color, such as ‘leaves’. Horizontal position of a plant represents whether there are more edible uses (more to the left) or more medical uses (more to the right).
