Ubuntu is an ancient Ngunu Bantu word meaning ‘humanity to others’. It also means ‘I am what I am because of who we all are’ (or as conveyed in the poster: ‘I am, because we are’). The usual meaning taken from the word is: “the belief in a universal bond of shar- ing that connects all humanity”. In my Natural Recall artwork I have taken this belief deeper by connecting it with our affinity with nature; we are one. Our DNA is one. There is no differentiation between humanity and nature. We are nature.
I am a South African designer and collage-artist currently living in Berlin (for the moment). My work is defined by the idea that creative expression can inspire change. A change that we need to see in this world (in all spheres: natural and social). I enjoy experimenting with portraying visually the connection between humans, nature and music. My designs, created using alternative sources for imagery preferably outside of the internet (book stores, vinyl covers, magazines etc), often contain handcrafted elements and I frequently use varied textures, rustic illustration and photographic mash-ups to convey a message with a meaning. The aim of my designs is to inspire people to think a little deeper about the world around them.
